…I just move around to find new restaurants. And tonight I hit the jackpot.
First night, decided to eat in the hotel restaurant for convenience, it has a decent reputation and a three-course menu for €22. Normally I roll my eyes at restaurants with foam this, drizzles of that and pearls of the other but if you’re going to get it spot on, I may just forgive you.
Started with the amuse-bouche – they brought me a light and tasty courgette soup in a shot glass, I can so totally get on board with this! Find me a restaurant that’ll serve me a variety of delicious soups in shot glasses and I’ll travel to the ends of the earth to eat there.
First course had some of the questionable foam but I took a risk because it was beetroot. The waiter arrived with a soup bowl containing a fluffy, floaty red foaminess which he then set swimming by pouring cream of potato soup (with style and panache) from a jug in his other hand. It looked great and it tasted better.
Main course was salt-grilled fish with steamed vegetables. Beautiful presentation, perfect balance of flavors, I was totally in awe.
For dessert I chose melon soup with pearls of watermelon. (I know this is a lot of soup!) Similar service to the first course – I was presented with a bowl holding the luscious red pearls of watermelon and the melon soup was swirled round them at the table. Beautifully light and refreshing.
So anyway the meal was so good, I didn’t think to take any photos (sorry!) but definitely felt the urge to enthuse after it anyway. Problem is I now need to talk myself out of eating in the hotel every night (there are four options for each course of the menu, plus the à la carte) as I found good restaurants in town as well. But maybe I’m allowed to go back again – just to take the photos I missed this time.
